Going to school in Cali, from Philadelphia. How am I going to get my stuff there?!?
Since I don’t have to transport really heavy things like furniture and appliances (I plan to buy my mini-fridge/microwave in Cali), what is the best way for me to get the things I need for school?
I could buy most of my things here and ship them through UPS, USPS, or FedEx
or
I can fly out there a day before orientation starts and try to get everything I need in 2 days using a very extensive checklist. This would require a hotel and 2 days’ car rental.
(My school doesn’t allow students to ship items before they arrive on campus. Also, I don’t know any one who lives in Palo Alto/San Fran/San Jose who I could help me.)
MOST COST-EFFECTIVE WAY?
Going to Stanford.. How good is transportation?
It’ll be easier for me to get everything when my mom is there with the rental car than it would be for me to go out and get things, yes?
Most motels have microwaves and coffee pots. You can buy those things here after you arrive while you are staying in the motel for 2 days until you move into a dorm or apartment, wherever you are going. It is not worth the cost of shipping those things since you have no address to ship to. You don’t have to get every single thing right away. Are you going to Stanford or San Jose State or where? I live in S.F. and used to work in San Jose so I know the areas. I know a nice guest hotel in Palo Alto where visiting faculty stay.
